We don't sell your data
Your data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for profiling outside NowHere.
No continuous tracking
NowHere never tracks your location in the background. Location is only used while you have the map open.
Our own server in Vienna
Your data lives on a server we run ourselves in Vienna, Austria – not with a large cloud provider.
What we collect and why
Account data
When you register, we store your e-mail address, your password (only as a hash), your first and last name, and your date of birth. This is used to identify you, let you log in, and check the minimum age.

Profile details
If you add them, we store your profile picture, your interests, and your home area. They help friends recognise you and help us suggest activities near you.

Contacts and groups
We store who you are connected with in NowHere and which groups you belong to.

Activities, invitations and responses
We store the activities you create (title, time frame, optionally place and description), who you invite, and your responses to invitations, such as “Yes”, “Maybe” or “No time”.

Location — only while the app is open
If you allow it, the app uses your device location while it is open to show activities near you on the map. For the nearby search your location is sent to our server, but it is never stored as a history. There is no background tracking. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device settings and keep using NowHere.

Push notifications
If you enable push notifications, your device token is stored so we can send you alerts. You can revoke this at any time in your device settings.

Feedback
If you send us feedback in the app, we store your message together with your account so we can reply.

Server logs
When you open this website or use the app, our server logs your IP address, the time, the requested address, and your browser identifier, so we can detect errors and attacks.

Cookies
This website sets one cookie, which is strictly necessary to operate it. No consent banner is required under Austrian TKG §165 and the EU ePrivacy Directive.

No analytics cookies. No advertising cookies. No third-party tracking of any kind.
Who can access your data
We run NowHere ourselves. These companies are involved, and none of them sells your data or uses it for advertising.
netcup — Vienna, Austria
netcup rents us the server that runs NowHere and this website. Your account, profile, and activities are stored on it, in Vienna.
Contracted under EU data protection law (data processing agreement). German company — no transfer outside the EU.
Apple and Google — push notifications
If you enable notifications, Apple (Apple Push Notification Service) or Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) deliver them to your device.
Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; notifications may be routed through the USA.
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. Authorities receive data only where the law requires it.
What other users can see
What others see depends on how you are connected to them.
Your contacts
People you are connected with see your name and profile picture.
People invited to the same activity
Everyone invited to an activity sees the other invitees and their responses.
Users nearby
Public activities are visible to other users nearby, including the name of the person who created them. Private activities are only visible to the people invited.
Your exact location is never shown to anyone.
How long we keep your data
Account, profile, contacts and activities
Until you delete your account; then permanently removed within 30 days.
Backups
Overwritten after 14 days. Deleted data is gone from the backups by then at the latest.
Location
Never stored — the nearby search is computed in the moment; no location history is kept on our servers.
Push tokens
Until you revoke notification permission or delete your account.
Server logs
14 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

See the data we hold about you.
Correction
Fix inaccurate data.
Deletion
Delete your account and all associated data.
Portability
Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Restriction
Ask us to pause processing.
Objection
Opt out of processing based on legitimate interests.
Withdraw consent
For location and push notifications, at any time, without penalty.
Write to privacy@pvent.app. We respond within 30 days (GDPR Art. 12(3)).
Supervisory authority
If you believe we are handling your data incorrectly, you can lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde — DSB), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Wien, dsb.gv.at
Age
NowHere is for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has created an account, reach out and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We will notify you of material changes at least 30 days before they take effect. The version number and date at the top of this page always reflect the current version.
